Features

Body & Styling Features

  • The Burgman 400’s bodywork is both slim and sporty, matching the scooter’s agile personality.
  • Abundant luggage space includes a 42-liter, under-seat storage compartment, large enough for two helmets, plus two front compartments for small personal items. Convenient switchable under-seat lights illuminate the entire storage area. Helmet sizes and shapes vary, so some helmets may not fit in the under-seat compartment.
  • The front bodywork contains two storage compartments: a 2.8-liter compartment on the left and a 3.5-liter compartment on the right with a convenient DC power outlet for charging electric devices.
  • The plush, exquisitely sculpted two-up seat features a weather-resistant cover with a leather-like texture, enhancing the Burgman’s look of luxury.

Chassis Features

  • The Burgman 400’s telescopic front fork provides a generous 4.3 inches of wheel travel and the link-type, mono-shock rear suspension that delivers motorcycle-like handling with exceptional maneuverability.
  • A large 15-inch front wheel replaces the 14-inch wheel of the prior-generation scooter helping provide excellent stability and an enhanced visual appearance. The cast front wheel carries a pair of 260mm disc brake rotors while the 13-inch rear wheel has a 210mm hydraulic disc brake rotor, all ABS-equipped**.
  • An easy-to-operate, T-handle parking brake lever is located on the dash near the ignition switch to prevent rear wheel movement when engaged.
  • The ignition switch is fitted with a magnetic security cover that opens only with a correctly coded key.

Engine Features

  • The polished, 400cc, liquid-cooled, four-stroke, DOHC, single cylinder, fuel-injected engine delivers balanced performance with strong low- to mid-range torque providing powerful acceleration up to its peak horsepower in the upper RPM range.
  • The engine’s DOHC four-valve configuration allows ideal positioning of the intake and exhaust valves for superior mechanical advantages and efficient fuel combustion. The benefits can be felt in smooth, instantly available acceleration.
  • Designed with strong computing power, the Engine Control Module (ECM) provides quick and smooth operation of the Traction Control* system, as well as the Easy Start and Automatic Idle Speed Control (ISC) systems.
  • The engine’s tuning also increases the Burgman’s fuel economy, taking further advantage of the scooter’s low weight to extend the riding range of the generous 3.6-gallon fuel tank.

Key Features

  • The analog/LCD panel Instrument Cluster features an elegant yet functional design with an easy-to-read, analog speedometer and tachometer dials flanking a digital display with an odometer, dual trip meters, fuel gauge, average fuel consumption meter, ambient temperature indicator, and a clock.
  • The polished, 400cc, liquid-cooled, four-stroke, DOHC, single cylinder, fuel-injected engine delivers balanced performance with strong low- to mid-range torque providing powerful acceleration up to its peak horsepower in the upper RPM range.
  • The fully automatic CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) provides smooth, linear power delivery for comfortable riding, whether commuting, or touring on the open road, or when riding with a passenger.
  • The Burgman’s Traction Control* system reduces rear wheel slipping when taking off from a stop or when riding on slippery roads, while the standard Anti-lock Brake System (ABS)** monitors wheel speed to help match stopping power to available traction. The Easy Start system starts the engine quickly and easily with a momentary press of the starter button.

Rider Aid Features

  • The Burgman’s Traction Control* system reduces slipping when taking off from a stop with the throttle fully open and helps reduce wheel spin on slippery or uneven road surfaces to maintain efficient forward movement.
  • The standard Anti-lock Brake System (ABS)** monitors wheel speed and helps match stopping power to available traction.
  • The Suzuki Easy Start System allows the Burgman to start quickly and easily with a momentary press of the starter button (the front brake must be applied for starter to function).

Transmission Features

  • The fully automatic CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) provides smooth, linear power delivery for comfortable riding, whether commuting, or touring on the open road, or when riding with a passenger.
  • The Burgman’s reliable performance is always available, whether commuting, touring on the open road, or when riding with a passenger.
